With the Participation of the Audit Institutions in the Arab World State Audit Institution Implements a Training Program for the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI)

Under the patronage of H.E Zahra bint Mohammed Redha Al Lawati, SAI Deputy Chairman for Audit on Authorities, Investments and Companies, the training program “Role of Supreme Audit Institutions in the Audit of Governments Efforts in Implementing Goal 16” kicked off this morning, Sunday, December 15. Training Center of the State Audit Institution implements the five- day program in cooperation with the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) at the Fraser Suites Muscat Hotel. The program includes participants from audit institutions across the Arab world, as well as participants from SAI, and features lectures by a group of certified trainers from SAI. This program aims to enhance the capacities of the Supreme Audit Institutions of ARABOSAI in auditing the government implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions), with a focus on challenges and opportunities in the Arab region.
The program also aims to foster interaction among participants and provide practical exercises to create an interactive learning environment that encourages effective participation and the exchange of experiences. This will be achieved through interactive techniques such as opinion polls, group discussions, and presentations to increase participants' engagement. Additionally, it seeks to deepen the understanding of the concepts of peace, justice, and strong institutions, and their importance in achieving sustainable development in the Arab region. The program is designed to enhance participants' skills in auditing the implementation of Goal 16 by providing modern auditing tools and methodologies tailored to the Arab context, exchanging best practices, and offering support to ARABOSAI members in the field of audit work. Moreover, it aims to raise awareness of the critical role of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in promoting accountability, good governance, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The program includes several theoretical and practical sessions on enhancing the capabilities of members of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in reviewing the implementation of Goal 16, its objectives, and indicators at the national level. It also focuses on identifying the requirements for auditing Goal 16, introducing participants to methods of collecting and analyzing data and information related to the goal's indicators, and reviewing the role of SAIs in light of the publications issued by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
It is worth noting that the Training Center of the State Audit Institution seeks to implement the program according to the methodology of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) in preparing and implementing training programs, thus enhancing cooperation and partnership in achieving joint training programs with the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI).
