State Audit Institution Participates in the 10th Meeting of the GCC Anti-Corruption Ministerial Committee

His Excellency Sheikh Ghuson bin Hilal Al-Alawi, Chairman of State Audit Institution, headed the delegation of the Sultanate of Oman to the 10th Meeting of the GCC Anti-Corruption Ministerial Committee, held in Doha, Qatar.

His Excellency Sheikh Ghuson bin Hilal Al-Alawi, Chairman of State Audit Institution, delivered a speech in which he congratulated the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority on the State of Qatar's assumption of the chairing the meetings of the 44th GCC session. His Excellency also congratulated the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on being selected as Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (the GlobE Network) for the period (2025-2027), as well as the UAE Accountability Authority on being elected as a member of the Steering Committee of the GlobE Network for the same period.

His Excellency referred to a number of important topics listed on the meeting’s agenda, including the specialized manuals related to disclosure and the Manual of Integrity Promotion in the State-Owned Enterprises that have been prepared in accordance with recognized professional standards, and should be utilized in a way that enables auditors to achieve the desired results and objectives efficiently and effectively, as well as contributes to enhancing the performance of anti-corruption agencies in the GCC states towards broader horizons.

 

A number of key topics were reviewed and discussed during the meeting, most notably the accession of the Gulf Cooperation Council as a regional organization to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, in addition to discussing several joint manuals such as the Manual of Financial Disclosure, Manual of Making Media and Awareness Content Available for the GCC Authorities and Institutions Responsible for Promoting Integrity and Combating Corruption, as well as the Manual of Integrity Promotion in the State-Owned Enterprises in the GCC States.

 

Their Excellencies reviewed the recommendations of the 2024 annual event, selected a topic for the 2025 annual event and discussed the interactive seminars to be implemented for the coming period. Their Excellencies concluded the meeting by discussing the update of the mechanisms for implementing the guiding principles for exchanging experiences and expertise between anti-corruption institutions and authorities.

At the end of the meeting, the winners of the first GCC competition for research and studies in the fields of protecting integrity and combating corruption were honored. Lieutenant-Colonel Dr. Saleh bin Salim bin Mohammed Al Habsi from Royal Oman Police won third place in the competition on the topic (The Regulatory Framework for Protecting Whistleblowers, Witnesses, Experts and Their Equivalents in Corruption Cases).

     His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, received the delegations’ heads participating in this meeting, where friendly talks related to the meeting topics were exchanged, wishing that the joint efforts would be crowned with success.
